Jenny earned her bachelor’s degree in Human Development from the University of Utah and later completed her Master of Social Work at the University of Montana. Before becoming a therapist, she worked as a developmental specialist for the Davis School District, supporting children and families with a wide range of developmental and emotional needs.
She believes strongly in the healing power of connection and the resilience found in everyday life. Jenny finds grounding in nature and often incorporates that perspective into her therapeutic work. Her passion lies in helping individuals recognize their inherent strengths, build emotional skills, and create meaningful, lasting change.
Jenny specializes in working with children, adolescents, and families experiencing ADHD, anxiety, depression, behavioral challenges, and significant life transitions such as divorce or blending families. She integrates expressive arts, CBT, DBT, ACT, and a strengths-based approach. With younger clients, she incorporates developmentally responsive play therapy techniques, honoring the belief that “toys are children’s words and play is their language.” Through play, she provides a safe and natural space for children to express themselves, process emotions, and develop skills for resilience.
Her therapeutic approach is compassionate, curious, and collaborative. She works to create a supportive environment free of judgment, where clients can explore challenges, recognize their potential, and take meaningful steps toward healing and growth.
“I believe there is beauty in the process, strength in the struggle, and real hope for the future. My role is to walk alongside you with empathy and evidence-based tools as you discover what you are truly capable of.”
— Jenny Petersen
